Sharp has always been a quality brand name. Even since they decided to dedicate themselves to making only LCD TV’s, they have produced some fine models.
One of the best sharp LCD TV models is the Aquos.
Some of the standard features included in the Sharp Aquos series are:
Multi-pixel technology. This development in technology has allowed Sharp LCD’s to deliver viewing angles that are 60% better than previous models.
You see, plasma TV’s have always been better in the past for viewing angles, but with this new technology the viewing angles are much better with a Sharp Aquos.
How does this technology work? Multi-pixel LCD panels work by each pixel being divided into two different sections. According to Sharp, this allows the LCD TV to deliver better color saturation and brightness at angles up to 176 degrees horizontally.
Another technological advancement developed by Sharp and used in the Aquos series is “quick-shoot” technology. This allows Sharp LCD’s to have incredibly low response times. The 2006 models have an astonishing 6ms response time. When you realise that 20ms is often considered “fast” you can see how astonishing it is to get a LCD TV of only 6ms!
But why does that matter, I hear you ask.
Here’s why: A low response time makes DVD and HDTV material much smoother… without even a trace of “ghosting”. If you like to play console games on your TV, then a low response time is essential as well.
Now let’s talk about some specific models of Sharps Aquos series.
Let’s start with what has to be the top of the line product… the D90U series.
These series includes one of the largest LCD TV’s available… a whopping 65” screen! If you know a thing or two about LCD TV’s, you know that this is pretty big for an LCD. But if you don’t want a huge screen (or can’t afford it), there are screens from 57”, 37”, and 32” (although the 32” doesn’t have the detachable bottom mounted speakers.
The larger models (from 65” to 37”) are also equipped with 1920 x 1080p resolution LCD panels. This is the highest HDTV specification currently available on the market.
Another cool feature of the Sharp Aquos D90U LCD TV’s is something called “four-wavelength backlight system”.
What this does is it adds a crimson red color to the usual three wavelength backlight. The usual backlight is just red green and blue, but with this added crimson red it gives an astonishing improvement in natural color reproduction. It also removes the oversaturation effect that some LCD TV’s can suffer from.
Because of this new backlight system, these Sharp Aquos LCD TV’s are as good as the best plasma TV’s in terms of color performance (the D90U model anyway).
The next model down in Sharp LCD TV’s is the D40U. Obviously this model doesn’t have as many of the great features as the higher end models (it doesn’t have the 1080 resolution of a D90U for example).
But they still retain some of the most important features, such as 6ms response time and the better viewing angles. The contrast ratio is lower at 720p.
These lower model Sharp LCD TV’s are still a great buy, and they look great as well!
There’s four different models available in the Sharp Aquos D40U series. Here’s the model number you’ll need:
Sharp LC-45D40U is for the 40” screen.
Sharp LC-37D40U is for the 37” screen.
Sharp LC-32D40U is for the 32” screen.
Sharp LC-26D40U is for the 26” screen.
And there you go. I hope this post has been useful to those of you looking for info on Sharp LCD TVs.
